March 30, 2005

I think this is an excellent piece and discussion over at Body and Soul. Lots of food for thought there.

film company craziness

March 30, 2005

Apparently the folks behind Miramax have left Disney, though the Miramax name and library remain with Disney. Does this mean we’ll have a new creative label pop up? Does this mean Disney will lose all semblance of an investment that has an “edge”?

can we empower the powerless

March 30, 2005

Morals and politics are playing some scary lines these days, and it seems to come up in conversation whether wanted or not.
Today I read an interesting editorial on US aid, and possible harm, to the AIDS epidemic in Africa. I can understand the desire to take the moral high ground in these situations, […]

bittersweet victory

March 28, 2005

March 17, 2005

Since becoming employed, it has become possibly to construct a strategy of financial rehabilitation. It’s a good feeling. In order to keep things sane, I constructed a budget that goes about 2 months into the future in detail, and 6 months into the future as a projection.
Aside from this sort of […]

who needs a PhD anyway?

March 7, 2005

Xiang has pointed me at another long lived webcomic that I didn’t know about, piled higher and deeper. It is funny and full of grad school wit. It has also been running for several years, so you can entertain yourself endlessly reading the archives.
