moments of stupidity
December 18, 2007
i find data entry to be the most challenging part of my job because i just don’t want to do it. It is hard to find the motivation to just get in there and copy a book onto the computer.
Sometimes i satisfy myself by learning something about geography or history, and that makes it all the more manageable.
Whenever i come across fractions I convert them to decimal equivalents for consistency with some of the newer information in the database. They mean the same thing, so I don’t think much about it. 1/2 becomes 0.5, and so on. At times math trips me up in all kinds of stupid ways, for example, I could not convince myself how to write up 4/10, so I punched it up on the calculator. When 0.4 was staring me back in the face, I had a desire to smack myself pretty hard in the forehead.
