For some reason I never really considered how old Prince is… he’s an amazing musician who i absolutely adore, but I never really thought about it. I am often amazed by artists with amazing longevity and independent creativity (which I was thinking about over the weekend while listening to Queen). I hadn’t realized that Prince’s first album premiered in 1978, and he’s gone on to pretty much dominate to much of music despite being amazingly freakish. I will say, I definitely have a soft spot for a man unashamed to wear eyeliner.
Anyhow, in 2008 Prince turns 50, which is rather awesome and amazing to me. Go him. I hope he’ll keep making awesome music to groove to… both for himself and for others. I’m wholly impressed by his achievements and I hope that i can make such an impact on some of the folks in my life.
