amusement amidst research
Thursday, January 20th, 2005I am doing a little research project on cool t-shirts, and in looking through things I found a very amusing strip from 2003. Go check out goat’s look at overclocked lemons.

I watched Ghost World in December, and really enjoyed the feel of the whole thing. It’s quirky and dark, like the comic, and manages to be optimistic in the end.
I still recommend reading Clowe’s comics more than seeing the movie, but if you like the comic, or refuse to read comics, then I suggest checking out the film.
I finished reading Flight Volume One. I really like the book and the organization of the collection. The theme was vague enough to give the artists an amazing range of freedom, yet gives a strong cohesion to the book. I first heard about the book back when it was published because Vera Brosgol was involved and she mentioned it on her site.
I liked Vera’s piece, it’s very different from rts, and to me that is a bit of a hats off anyway. Of the 24 pieces, Jake Parker, Vera Brosgol, Jen Wang, Khang Le, Rad Sechrist, and Clio Chiang are particularly worth checking out.
If this type of stuff floats your boat, Flight Volume 2 is due out March 23 (yay!) and Jeff Smith is one of the contributors on the list.
I have been through my normal round of comics reading, and from the last two weeks I feel that this scary go round post is of particular amusement.
Mind you, the idea of evil (yet silly) Portuguese man-o-wars plotting to take over the world is already quite amusing, and the idea of Shelly trying to stop them… well… hilarity is almost ensured. Still, I like what is going on in this particular 007-esque post.
Or at least this classy monkey does. While this comic is on hiatus until December, I think there are many fun moments going on there worth checking out.
I like beauty of line in a comic, and to have it be a fantasy comic is all the better. For some stunning visuals, check out fallen, and admire.
Well, I have stumbled across Spamusement, which is celebrating it’s 100th strip. It’s quite funny and worth a gander and a giggle or two.
I love people who link to neat things, because it means I can link to wonderful things. Or at least it means I can find out about more interesting things.
Check out the angsty goth neatness of Ornery Boy.
I’ve been enjoying a thread going through Scary Go Round, since the time travel theme is being taken to a slightly different level here. I especially like Shelly’s surliness, since she reminds me much of myself in moments of utter honesty. *sigh*
I like comics, and i like the idea of using different media to take a comic to different places. I really like what Scott McCloud was up to here with Mimi’s Last Coffee.
